How To "Pose" For Your Couples Session

So many couples that I work with say the same thing…
you want beautiful memories captured together but you feel awkward in front of the camera. You never know how to stand or where to put your hands. If you want to spend a bit of time in front of the mirror perfecting your angles or combine all your favorite inspo photos on a mood board be my guest. But I find that couples portraits look the absolute best when you’re thinking less about taking photos and simply enjoying each other.
Posing isn’t something I want you to worry about before or during your session – that’s my job. I will get you into position for each photo set and guide your interactions. What I want you to do is commit to the process and connect.
For example, if I tell you I want you to walk next to each other and flirt a little while doing so, don’t be afraid to add a spin, pull each other in for a quick kiss, tap your partner on the butt for a laugh. When I tell you to hug each other, completely relax and melt into each other like you’re trying to get cozy for a movie night or bedtime snuggles.
Act like the camera isn’t there and simply take each other in. Enjoy the quiet moments when I have you gave into each other’s eyes. Giggle and joke through the nerves you’re feeling. Think about how good it’s going to feel to look back on these Smoky mountain memories together when you’re older and in a different place in life.
Don’t pose, just immerse. The rest will come naturally.
