Relocating can be tough, but it’s also an opportunity for your life and brand to have a fresh start! Although I’m still learning and finding my way as I go, my business seems to be flourishing in a way didn’t anticipate so soon. I wanted to share a few pointers to other entrepreneurs who may be considering relocating their brand right now.
Get ahead on requirements for registering and operating your business. This process took a ton of phone calls, reading articles, etc for me because there wasn’t a step by step guide on how this works. Moving is already stressful enough, so don’t wait last minute to do this.
Word of mouth is extremely powerful today and it’s hard building interest in a place where no one is familiar with you. Rather than focusing on your current audience, make sure you’re shifting your focus towards how to tap into new connections.
If you haven’t refreshed your website, socials or brand in a while, this is the perfect time to do so. Relocating provides you the opportunity to totally start fresh. Lean into what’s working and fix what’s not ideal for the future.
I’m introverted and can be socially awkward so I understand how difficult it can be to put yourself out there. However, this is your chance to approach socializing differently. Much of the success I’ve had up to this point in my new city is a result of the consistent effort I’ve put into making connections personally and professionally. I have healthy relationships with business owners and a solid group of friends, neighbors and clients who are always happy to send me a referral.
