Saving & Reviving My Prayer Plant

Have you ever run into those houseplants that others claim are “easy” but you somehow manage to kill them every time? The Prayer Plant is certainly that for me. I purchased mine from Lowes a few years ago and it is on it’s third life at this point.

I was tempted to throw in the towel and let it go, but it has always been hard for me to give up on a living thing; especially one that constantly reminds me how alive it is by moving everyday. (I was not aware of this prior to purchasing it so imagine how terrified I was the first time I heard it snap into a new position.)

It looks like I’ve finally hit my stride with this one after 3 1/2 years! It’s shown a ton of progress in 2022. I’ve learned to monitor my moisture meter closer with it and to avoid direct light at all costs.

I’ve used the method I show in this video on 2 other plants that are now thriving as well. If you notice your plant is beyond the point of saving, my recommendation is to take clippings from the healthiest parts and begin propagating immediately. Happy growing!
