When my husband and I started planning our wedding, we were overwhelmed by all the possibilities, vendors, expenses, etc. Our wedding planning process became so much easier after we questioned one thing:
After discussing what we wanted our special day to consist of, we realized it wasn’t much at all. We didn’t care about grand gestures and flashy decor. We just wanted to be fully immersed in celebrating this incredible moment in an intimate way. We also wanted to prepare ourselves for lots of traveling, investments and life changes in the future….and it just made sense to save funds rather than splurging on a 1 day experience.
Society has told us what weddings should look like and even the loved ones around us tend to express a lot of opinions on everything from the guest list to the music. Above all us, I believe it’s important to prioritize what you envision. What’s going to make you two look back on this day with fondness? What’s going to keep stress to a minimum? What works with your budget and plans for the future?
Til this day, we still believe our wedding day was exactly what we wanted and literally perfect! There’s not a single thing we would change. I hope that by asking yourselves “What matters to US?” and planning from there will help you feel the same!
Hey love birds, I’m Kandace – a passionate, hopeless romantic who’s been capturing love stories of all kinds for 9 years.
I take my responsiblities as a wedding photographer seriously for many reasons, but this story sums up why your memories are important to me.
Several years ago, one of my brides reached out with heartbreaking news that her father passed away just weeks after she tied the knot. The photos I captured on her special day were the only images she has with him in recent years.
Thankfully, as I flipped through her gallery there were so many candid moments of her dear loved one…laughs. tears. hugs. togetherness.
Whether you read your vows privately and elope in the mountains or rent out the fanciest of venues to celebrate your union, my goal remains the same.
To provide you with beautiful and authentic moments to look back on with fondness for years to come.
