There’s something incredibly special about getting to photograph a couple who’s still laughing together 15 years into marriage. That’s the kind of love that’s grown through the highs, the lows, the everyday moments—and when you get to pause and celebrate that with the Smoky Mountains as your backdrop? Magic.
Earlier this April, I met up with the sweetest couple celebrating their 15th wedding anniversary right here in Gatlinburg. They were on a little getaway, just the two of them, and wanted to capture some portraits during their time in the mountains. No big production. No props. Just the two of them and that soft golden light that April evenings in the Smokies are known for.
We wandered along a quiet nature trail tucked inside Great Smoky Mountains National Park—not too far from Gatlinburg, but just far enough to feel like the rest of the world had disappeared. The trees were just waking up from winter, and the trail had this quiet, peaceful energy that matched their vibe perfectly.
What I loved most was how natural they were together. They laughed, they hugged, and they shared a few words of wisdom to me as I approach two years of marriage.
